Terms of Service
The rules for using AstralNotix.
1Acceptance of these terms
AstralNotix is a product of AlphaNotix ("AlphaNotix," "we," "us," or "our"), the parent company that owns and operates it. Wherever these terms refer to "AstralNotix," they mean the service AlphaNotix operates under that name; wherever they refer to "AlphaNotix," "we," "us," or "our," they mean the parent company itself.
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and AlphaNotix. Creating an account, joining a campaign, or otherwise using the site means you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use AstralNotix.
You’re using AstralNotix on behalf of yourself. If you’re using it as part of a group, club, or table run by someone else, these terms still apply to you individually.
What you’re agreeing to, in short: the sections below are what actually governs your use of AstralNotix, but here’s the shape of it before you read the rest.
- AstralNotix is a campaign toolkit for tabletop games, not a payment processor, a publisher, or a party to what happens at your table (§3).
- You keep ownership of what you create; you just give us the license we need to host and display it (§7).
- Don’t upload copyrighted or licensed material you don’t have the rights to use (§8).
- AI-assisted features send your content to outside providers to generate a response, and can be wrong (§9).
- If a Game Master records a Discord voice session, getting everyone’s consent is the GM’s responsibility, not ours (§10).
- In-game currency has no real-world value, and the Bazaar and paid Memberships are previews with no live transactions yet. Once they launch: Membership charges are final, and a Bazaar purchase becomes final once you open what you bought (§11-§13).
- We can warn, remove content, suspend, or terminate an account that violates these terms, and you can delete your own account at any time (§16).
- The service is provided as is, our liability is capped, and you agree to cover our costs if your use of AstralNotix gets us sued (§17-§19).
- These terms are governed by Nevada law, and disputes go to binding individual arbitration rather than court, with no class actions, a small-claims exception, and 30 days to opt out (§20). We’ll notify you if we materially change these terms (§21).
2Definitions
A few terms recur throughout these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Where they’re capitalized, they mean:
- "AlphaNotix," "we," "us," or "our" — the parent company that owns and operates AstralNotix.
- "AstralNotix" or the "Service" — the virtual tabletop product these Terms cover, at whatever domain AlphaNotix operates it from.
- "Account" — the registered login you create with an email address and password.
- "Campaign" — a persistent space on AstralNotix created by a Game Master, containing characters, world content, and the players invited to it.
- "Game Master" or "GM" — the user who creates a Campaign, and anyone else holding the same role in it, controlling that Campaign under §14.
- "Content" or "User Content" — anything a user creates, uploads, or submits to AstralNotix, including characters, campaign notes, maps, chat messages, forum posts, and Bazaar listings.
- "Bazaar" — the marketplace for user-made content described in §12.
- "Membership" — a paid subscription tier described in §13.
- "Terms" — this Terms of Service document.
3What AstralNotix is
AstralNotix is a virtual tabletop and Game Master toolkit built around Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, supporting both the 2014 and 2024 SRD rule sets. AlphaNotix intends to add support for other tabletop systems over time; nothing in these terms limits the site to D&D forever.
The service includes, among other things: campaign creation and player management; character sheets and inventories; maps, initiative tracking, and dice rolling; world-building tools for NPCs, factions, locations, quests, and lore; AI-assisted content generation; optional Discord voice-session recording; public forums; and the Bazaar, a marketplace for user-made content (see §12).
AstralNotix is not a payment processor, a bank, or a currency exchange (see §11); not a publisher or licensor of copyrighted tabletop content (see §8); and not a party to what happens at your table, a Game Master’s decisions inside their own Campaign are theirs to make, not AstralNotix’s (see §14).
4Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, using AstralNotix means you’re confirming that a parent or guardian is aware of, and consents to, your use of the Service and agreement to these Terms.
That age matches Discord’s own minimum. AstralNotix’s session-recording feature requires a Game Master to connect a Discord account (see §10), so the two services’ age floors are kept in sync on purpose.
AstralNotix doesn’t currently restrict signups by country or region. That said, you’re responsible for making sure your use of the Service is lawful where you live, and if local law sets a higher minimum age or additional requirements for a service like this one, that higher standard controls for you.
You’re also responsible for making sure your use of AstralNotix complies with the laws that apply to you generally, including any laws about recording other people’s voices (see §10).
5Your account
You need an email address and password to create an account. You’re responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
If you forget your password, you can request a reset link from the login page. The link is single-use, expires after a short window, and resetting your password signs out every other active session on your account. To protect accounts against automated attacks, sign-in, sign-up, and password-reset attempts are throttled, a bot-verification challenge runs on those forms, and an account is temporarily locked after repeated failed sign-in attempts.
Site administrators can suspend or ban an account that violates these terms, independently of anything a Game Master does inside their own campaign (see §14).
6Beta & preview features
AstralNotix is under active development. Some parts of it are explicitly early: access to Campaigns may be limited to invited accounts or granted on a time-boxed preview basis, and features described elsewhere in these terms, such as the Bazaar and in-game currency, are previews with no live transactions yet.
Preview and beta features are provided as they are. We may change, limit, or remove them without the notice we’d otherwise give for a fully released feature.
7Your content and the license you grant us
You own the content you create on AstralNotix: your characters, homebrew items and spells, maps, campaign notes, forum posts, and anything else you write or upload, as long as it’s yours to give.
To run the service, we need your permission to store, copy, back up, transmit, and display that content, and to show it to the other members of your campaign or the public forums as you’ve configured it. You grant AlphaNotix that license for as long as your content stays on the service. We don’t claim ownership of it, and we don’t use it to train our own AI models.
You’re responsible for the content you upload, including having the rights to anything you didn’t create yourself.
8Content rules
AstralNotix does not permit any copyrighted or licensed material you don’t have the rights to use to be uploaded or stored on our servers, whether or not it was paid for. This includes, for example: scanned or copied PDFs of official rulebooks, adventure modules, or splatbooks; a paid module or supplement you own a copy of but don’t have the right to redistribute; official artwork, stat blocks, or rules text copied verbatim from a published book; and other licensed assets, maps, tokens, portrait art, music, or fonts, whose license doesn’t let you redistribute them through a third-party site like AstralNotix. This applies regardless of the source, and regardless of whether the content is shared publicly or kept inside a single private campaign: everything on AstralNotix is hosted on our servers, and we can’t host content we don’t have the right to host.
Your own homebrew content, and content you have the rights to use, is always welcome. The 5e SRD content built into AstralNotix’s character builder is used under its CC-BY-4.0 license. Content you generate with AstralNotix’s own AI-assisted tools (§9) is fine to use and share for the same reason, it isn’t copied from an existing copyrighted work. That doesn’t extend to AI output specifically produced to reproduce or closely imitate a commercial product’s proprietary material; that’s treated the same as any other unauthorized copy of that material.
You’re responsible for having the rights to anything you upload, whether you made it yourself, generated it with an AI tool, bought it, or received it from someone else. Uploading content to AstralNotix is you representing to us that you have the right to put it there; it isn’t AlphaNotix’s job to verify that in advance. If that representation turns out to be false, the responsibility, and any resulting claim against AlphaNotix under §18, is yours.
Public spaces and private campaigns. A "public space" is anywhere content is visible to people beyond a single Campaign’s invited members, including the Forums, the Bazaar, and any other area AstralNotix marks as publicly browsable. A private Campaign is visible only to its GM and the players that GM has invited. The rule against unauthorized copyrighted or licensed material above applies everywhere, public or private, for the hosting reason explained above. The additional rules below are aimed specifically at public spaces, where content reaches people who never chose to be at your table.
In a public space, you also may not post anything illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or intended to defraud other users. We can remove content that breaks any rule in this section and take action against the account responsible, up to and including suspension or termination; see §16 for how that works. Nothing you post in a public space is private: treat the Forums, the Bazaar, and any other public area the way you’d treat any public message board, visible to anyone browsing AstralNotix, logged in or not, not just the people you meant to reach.
9AI-assisted features
Several tools on AstralNotix, like generating NPCs, monsters, items, spells, and locations; drafting session summaries; running in-character NPC chat; and answering Oracle prompts, are powered by third-party AI models. Content you submit to these tools, including campaign notes and session context, is sent to those providers to generate a response.
AI output can be wrong, inconsistent with your campaign’s established facts, or occasionally inappropriate. Review anything the AI generates before you present it to your table. AlphaNotix doesn’t guarantee the accuracy of AI-assisted content.
10Discord & session recording
A Game Master can optionally link a Discord account to a campaign to select a server and voice channel. Doing so shares the list of Discord servers you belong to with AstralNotix, so you can pick which one to connect.
Once connected, the GM can start and stop a recording of that voice channel during a live session. Recording captures the audio of everyone speaking in the channel at the time, not just the GM. It captures audio only: video, screen shares, and text chat in that channel are not recorded.
When a recording starts, everyone currently in the connected voice channel automatically hears a chime immediately followed by a spoken voice note stating that the session is being recorded, sees an in-app toast saying the same thing, and gets a written message posted in the channel’s text chat marking that the recording started. Anyone who joins or rejoins the voice channel while a recording is already running, whether reconnecting after a dropped connection, arriving late, or joining as a substitute player, gets a direct message from the bot and a message in the channel’s text chat stating that the session is being recorded, rather than the audio announcement, so the notice reaches them without interrupting the session for everyone else. Recording stopping is announced the same way, with a written message marking when it ended. None of this requires any action from the GM.
The GM still has a job here. Before you start a recording, tell your players you intend to record the session and check that they’re all right with it. The automatic notice covers the moment recording begins; it can’t have the conversation that should happen before it. So even with that notice running, the person who starts a recording remains responsible for making sure everyone in the voice channel actually understands the session is being recorded, and for getting any additional consent required under the laws that apply to them, including jurisdictions that require every participant’s affirmative consent before a conversation can be recorded.
AlphaNotix isn’t a party to that conversation and isn’t responsible for a GM’s failure to get proper consent. AstralNotix provides notice tools, but cannot determine whether consent laws apply to your session; that determination, and the responsibility for acting on it, is the GM’s alone.
11In-game currency & items
Any "gold," wallet, or shop feature on AstralNotix represents fictional, in-story value only. It has no real-world monetary value, can’t be exchanged for cash or any other consideration, and isn’t currently purchasable with real money. A Game Master can configure their campaign’s currency denominations and balances freely; none of it is a financial transaction.
12The Bazaar
The Bazaar is a planned marketplace for buying and selling user-made content. As of these Terms, the Bazaar is preview-only: no listings are live, and no user can start or complete a purchase through it yet. AlphaNotix has already built the backend payment infrastructure it’ll run on, described below, ahead of the storefront itself going live.
Once real transactions launch, AlphaNotix intends to let you sell content you made entirely yourself, with no copyrighted or licensed material from an existing published game, consistent with the content rules in §8. That’s meant to include not just items, spells, and card themes, but larger original works too: your own custom rulebooks, your own custom SRD-style rules content for a system you designed yourself, and full custom campaigns or campaign modules. Listing something on the Bazaar will always require that it’s your own original work; it won’t create an exception to §8. Sellers are responsible for ensuring their listings comply with §8 and all applicable laws.
Checkout will run through Stripe or PayPal, whichever the buyer chooses. Both are hosted checkout pages: your card or PayPal details are typed directly into their page, never ours, and AlphaNotix never sees or stores a full card number. AlphaNotix keeps a tokenized reference to the payment method used, the processor’s own customer and payment-method IDs, plus the card’s brand and last four digits, so a repeat purchase doesn’t require re-entering payment details every time. Digital files are delivered immediately upon successful payment.
AlphaNotix takes a percentage of each Bazaar sale, and the percentage depends on the seller’s Membership tier (§13). Selling requires a paid Membership: the free Wanderer tier can browse and buy, but can’t list.
| Seller’s tier | AlphaNotix’s share | Seller receives |
|---|---|---|
| Wanderer (free) | — | Can’t sell on the Bazaar |
| Adventurer | 30% | 70% |
| Champion | 20% | 80% |
| Paragon | 10% | 90% |
Payment processing costs come out of AlphaNotix’s share, not the seller’s. Stripe’s and PayPal’s per-transaction fees are ours to carry. A seller receives the sale price less AlphaNotix’s percentage above, and nothing further is deducted for processing. The percentage that applies to a sale is the one attached to the seller’s tier at the moment the sale completes.
Listings have a minimum price. Because AlphaNotix absorbs the processing cost, a sale priced low enough would cost more to process than our share of it brings in. The Bazaar therefore sets a minimum listing price, published in seller settings before you list and set so that the processing cost is covered out of our percentage on every sale.
A Bazaar sale is final once you open what you bought. Bazaar listings are digital files: once a buyer has opened or downloaded one, there’s no way to undo that delivery, and a refund would leave them with a free copy of something they got to keep. So once the content has been accessed, a completed Bazaar purchase isn’t refundable, exchangeable, or cancellable.
A purchase you never opened is refundable. If AstralNotix’s own records show you never opened or downloaded the content, ask us and we’ll refund it. That carve-out is deliberate. It keeps the rule workable in places whose consumer law gives buyers a withdrawal right on digital content, a right that lapses once the content is actually delivered and accessed. Opening the content closes that window. Read a listing carefully before you buy, and don’t open it if you’re unsure.
No trading outside the Bazaar. Bazaar content, in-game currency, and any other in-store item may only be bought and sold through the Bazaar’s own checkout. You may not sell, trade, or exchange them for real-world money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, or any other consideration outside that checkout, including a deal arranged through Discord, the forums, or anywhere else off the Service. AlphaNotix doesn’t recognize or support a side economy like that, and arranging one is a violation of these Terms under §16.
Chargebacks. Filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your card issuer or PayPal, instead of contacting us directly, can result in suspension or removal of your Bazaar access, on top of whatever your card issuer or PayPal does on their end. This protects AlphaNotix and other sellers against payment fraud.
Additional Bazaar features, such as bundles or promotional pricing, may be introduced in future updates and will be governed by these Terms.
13Paid membership tiers
AstralNotix has four Membership tiers. Wanderer is the free tier every account starts on. Adventurer, Champion, and Paragon are paid. They exist today as badges rather than as anything you can currently buy; AlphaNotix plans to sell them as ongoing subscriptions, at the prices below.
| Tier | Monthly | Yearly | Yearly saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wanderer | Free | Free | — |
| Adventurer | $9.99 | $107.89 | 10% |
| Champion | $19.99 | $208.70 | 13% |
| Paragon | $39.99 | $383.90 | 20% |
Every paid tier is available monthly or yearly. A yearly plan is the monthly price for twelve months less the saving shown, charged once up front. Prices are in US dollars and don’t include any tax that applies where you live.
Your tier also decides what AlphaNotix takes on a Bazaar sale, and whether you can sell at all: see §12.
Once that launches, a paid Membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you chose, until you cancel it. Membership charges are final. We don’t refund a partial period, a period you barely used, or a change of mind, and that holds for a yearly plan exactly as it does for a monthly one. Canceling never produces a refund for any part of the period you’re already in. The narrow unopened-content refund in §12 is a Bazaar rule and doesn’t apply to Memberships.
Upgrading mid-period. You can move to a higher tier at any time and it takes effect immediately. We charge the difference on a prorated basis: the cost of the new tier for the days left in the period you’re in, less the unused portion of what you already paid for the old one. You’re never charged twice for the same days. Your renewal date doesn’t move, and the next renewal is at the new tier’s full rate.
Downgrading mid-period. Moving to a lower tier works the other way round and doesn’t produce a refund. You keep the tier you paid for through the end of the period you’re in, and the lower tier takes effect at your next renewal, at that tier’s rate.
Canceling is self-service, and we don’t hide it. Go to Settings, then Subscriptions, and choose Cancel. We ask you to confirm once, so nobody cancels by accident, and that’s the whole process. No retention maze, no phone call, no email to support, no sequence of screens designed to wear you down. Once you confirm, we tell you the exact date your paid access runs through.
Nothing changes right away. Your Membership stays active through the end of the period you already paid for, monthly or yearly, so you keep what you paid for. It just doesn’t renew, and you aren’t charged again.
You see these terms before you pay, too. The tier purchase screen states them at checkout: that canceling keeps your access running to the end of the period you paid for, and that there’s no refund for the remainder of it.
Canceling doesn’t take your account away. On the last day of the paid period your paid access ends and the account reverts to Wanderer, the free tier, automatically. You keep your campaigns, characters, and everything else you’ve built; you just lose the features reserved for paid tiers.
Resubscribing. You can resubscribe at any time. Paid features reactivate immediately once the payment goes through, and everything you built while on a paid tier, or after dropping back to Wanderer, is still there waiting for you.
If a renewal payment fails. Cards expire and payment methods get declined. If a renewal charge doesn’t go through, your membership may be paused or downgraded until the payment is resolved. We’ll email the address on file when that happens so you have a chance to update your payment method; if it stays unresolved, the account reverts to Wanderer the same way a cancellation would, under the paragraphs above.
Price changes. Membership pricing can change. If it does, AlphaNotix will notify you in advance of the new rate taking effect and give you the opportunity to cancel before it applies to you. A price change never applies retroactively to a period you’ve already paid for.
Where billing happens. All Membership billing runs through Stripe or PayPal, whichever you choose, on their own hosted checkout pages, the same way Bazaar purchases work under §12. AlphaNotix doesn’t store full payment details; we keep only a tokenized reference to the payment method so a renewal can be charged without you re-entering it.
Membership features may change. What a tier includes can evolve as AstralNotix develops. If we add, change, or remove something a paid tier includes, we’ll communicate the change clearly rather than altering it quietly. If a change materially reduces what you’re paying for, you can cancel under the process above and keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
14Campaigns & the GM’s authority
Whoever creates a campaign is its Game Master by default and controls that campaign: who can join, who gets removed or banned from it, what’s visible to players, and its settings and theme. A campaign-level ban only affects that campaign; it doesn’t ban your AstralNotix account.
A GM’s authority stops at their own campaign’s edge. It applies only inside the Campaign they run. It doesn’t reach into another GM’s Campaign, and it carries no power over the Forums, the Bazaar, or any other platform-wide part of AstralNotix. A GM is not an administrator of the Service; site administrators are separate, and act under §5 and §16.
More than one GM. A Campaign can have several Game Masters. Where it does, every GM holds the same administrative permissions inside that Campaign, with no hierarchy between them: any GM can use any GM-level control. The one exception is the account that created the Campaign, which another GM can’t remove or ban from it.
What a GM can and can’t see. A GM’s reach is limited to their own Campaign’s content and settings. Inside it they can see everything, including the characters, notes, and other content you create there, plus the display name, account email address, and online status that identify you on that Campaign’s member list (the other members of that Campaign see the same list). A GM cannot see your password, your payment details, your account settings, or anything you do in another Campaign or elsewhere on AstralNotix. Nothing about being a GM grants access to another user’s account.
Exporting a campaign. A Game Master can export their Campaign’s world and rules content as a data file. That file is structured campaign data only: sessions, NPCs, factions, deities, locations, world events, villain plans, quests, custom items, spells, monsters and rules, prep notes, rulebooks, maps, and player characters. It does not bundle your media. Uploaded images like portraits, tokens, and map art stay on AstralNotix, and the file carries only references to them. It also leaves out live session state and user-generated chat: the initiative order, combat log, dice rolls, session chat, and whispers aren’t included, and neither is the Campaign’s member list, invites, or bans.
Re-importing an export. An exported file can be imported back into AstralNotix. Importing always creates a new Campaign owned by whoever imports it; it doesn’t merge into, update, or overwrite an existing Campaign, and it doesn’t carry over the original’s members, invites, or bans. Because the image references in the file point back at AstralNotix’s own storage, an export is meant for moving a campaign around inside AstralNotix rather than as a portable archive for use somewhere else.
15Acceptable use
Don’t do any of the following on AstralNotix:
- Harass or threaten other users.
- Impersonate anyone. That means another user, an AlphaNotix employee or representative, a Game Master you aren’t, or one of AstralNotix’s own automated systems and official messages. Don’t misrepresent who you are or who you’re affiliated with to gain access, credibility, money, or someone else’s content.
- Use the Service for anything illegal, or to store, share, or distribute illegal content. This applies everywhere on AstralNotix, private Campaigns included, and sits alongside the content rules in §8.
- Attempt to bypass account bans, campaign bans, or access gates.
- Use bots, scripts, or other automation to create accounts, join Campaigns, post, or otherwise interact with the Service in ways that disrupt normal use, evade a limit we’ve set, or put load on the Service that ordinary use wouldn’t.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the service without permission.
- Exploit a bug, vulnerability, or unintended behavior in the Service, for your own benefit or anyone else’s. That includes duplicating in-game currency or items, obtaining paid or preview features you weren’t granted, reaching content you don’t have access to, and passing a working exploit around instead of reporting it. If you find something like this, email security@alphanotix.com: reporting a flaw in good faith isn’t a violation of this section.
- Probe or attack the infrastructure that runs it.
- Interfere with other users’ ability to use the service.
Breaking these rules has consequences. A violation of this section can lead to a warning, a restriction on your account, suspension, or termination, depending on what happened and what came before it. §16 sets out how we decide which one fits.
Additional rules may apply to specific features or areas of AstralNotix, such as the Forums, the Bazaar, or a feature released after these Terms were last updated. Where a feature carries its own posted rules, those apply on top of this section rather than instead of it.
16Enforcement, suspension & termination
If content or an account violates these Terms, including the content rules in §8 or the acceptable use rules in §15, is fraudulent or unlawful, puts other users or AstralNotix’s infrastructure at risk, or involves unpaid or reversed charges on a Membership once Memberships launch under §13, we can take whichever of the following actions fits the situation:
- Warning — telling you that specific content or behavior violates these Terms, usually with a chance to fix it.
- Content removal — taking down the specific post, upload, listing, or message that violates these Terms, without necessarily touching the rest of the account.
- Suspension — temporarily restricting an account’s access to some or all of AstralNotix.
- Termination or ban — permanently closing an account and revoking its access to the Service.
We decide which of these fits a given violation based on its severity and the account’s history. A serious violation, illegal content, threats, fraud, or anything involving the sexual exploitation of minors, can go straight to suspension or termination without a warning first.
Those four actions aren’t an exhaustive list. AlphaNotix may take whatever additional or alternative action it reasonably considers appropriate to protect its users, the Service, or its own legal obligations. That includes responding to a situation these Terms don’t specifically describe, and acting before a violation is fully established where waiting would put people or the Service at risk.
Repeat violations are treated more seriously than a first one. An account with a pattern of rule-breaking, including re-uploading content we already removed, creating a new account to get around a suspension or ban, or accumulating multiple warnings over time, can be suspended or terminated even if any single incident on its own would only have warranted a lesser response.
Evading enforcement makes it worse. Creating a new account, using someone else’s, or otherwise working around a suspension or ban is itself a violation of these Terms. Where we find that an account exists to evade enforcement, we can terminate it together with every other account we determine is associated with you, including the original account if it was only suspended rather than banned.
A suspension isn’t a promise of reinstatement. Some suspensions are time-limited and lift on their own; others stay in place until we’re satisfied the underlying problem is resolved, and some are never lifted. Restoring access after a suspension or termination is at AlphaNotix’s discretion, and asking us to reconsider a decision doesn’t oblige us to reverse it.
Reporting a violation. If you see content or behavior on AstralNotix that you believe violates these Terms, email abuse@alphanotix.com with a description of what you saw and, where you can, a link to the content or account involved. We review reports and act at our discretion; out of respect for other users’ privacy, we generally can’t tell the person who reported something what action, if any, we took as a result.
False or malicious reports are themselves a violation. That channel exists so people can flag real problems. Knowingly submitting a false report, or using reports to harass someone, retaliate against them, or get a rival’s content taken down, breaks these Terms and can be actioned like anything else in this section. Reporting something in good faith and turning out to be wrong is fine; that isn’t what this is about.
Cooperating with law enforcement. AlphaNotix may cooperate with law enforcement and other authorities where the law requires it, or where we reasonably believe it’s necessary to address a credible threat to someone’s safety, fraud, or illegal activity. That can include preserving or disclosing account information and content.
What happens to removed content. Content we remove under this section stops being visible on AstralNotix straight away. We may keep a copy for a limited period where it’s needed to handle an appeal, investigate related reports, maintain security, or meet a legal obligation, and delete it afterwards. Removal is not a backup service: don’t rely on us holding a copy of anything for you.
Enforcement here stays here. An enforcement action under this section applies to your access to AstralNotix. It doesn’t reach accounts you hold with anyone else: your Discord account, your payment provider, and any other outside service are unaffected by what we do here, and we can’t act against them on your behalf or anyone else’s. If AlphaNotix later operates other products under a shared AlphaNotix account, how enforcement carries between those products will be set out in their own terms.
We’ll generally tell you why your own account was suspended or terminated, unless doing so would compromise an investigation or violate the law. You can delete your own account at any time from your settings; doing so removes your access and your personal account data. Deleting or losing your account doesn’t entitle you to a refund for any paid purchase or Membership period under §12 or §13.
17Disclaimers
AstralNotix is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. This is especially true of beta and preview features under §6. We don’t guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
We’re not responsible for what other users make. AstralNotix hosts what its users create. AlphaNotix isn’t responsible for the accuracy, legality, quality, or safety of User Content, whether that’s a homebrew rule listed on the Bazaar, a forum post, or something another player brought to your table. We don’t review or verify User Content before it appears (§8), its presence on AstralNotix isn’t an endorsement of it, and a dispute about User Content is between the people involved.
We’re not responsible for the services we build on. AstralNotix depends on outside providers to run: Cloudflare for hosting and infrastructure, Anthropic for AI-assisted features, Discord for the session-recording integration, Resend for email, and Stripe and PayPal for payments once those launch. AlphaNotix isn’t responsible for those providers’ own outages, errors, security incidents, pricing, or decisions, and your relationship with any of them is governed by their terms rather than ours. A failure on their side can interrupt or degrade parts of AstralNotix, and where it does, this section applies just as it would to a failure of our own.
We don’t guarantee your data survives. We take reasonable care with what you store here, but we don’t guarantee that content or data on AstralNotix will always be preserved, complete, or accessible. Bugs, infrastructure failures, and plain mistakes can lose data. If something matters to you, keep your own copy: a Game Master can export a Campaign’s content at any time under §14.
Features can change or disappear. AstralNotix is under active development. Features may change, be limited, or be removed, and parts of the Service may be unavailable, without advance notice. Two things sit outside that: preview and beta features are governed by §6, and a change to what a paid Membership tier includes is governed by §13, which commits us to communicating it rather than changing it quietly.
These disclaimers work together with the cap on what AlphaNotix can be liable for in §19. Read the two sections together.
Where the law doesn’t allow this. Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain rights. Where that’s the case for you, the exclusions above apply to the fullest extent that law permits, and nothing in this section takes away a right you hold that can’t be waived. The rest of these Terms stays in effect regardless, per §18.
18Indemnification & general provisions
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold AlphaNotix, its officers, employees, and contractors harmless from any claim, liability, damages, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of AstralNotix, the User Content you submit, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or another person’s rights, including a failure to obtain the consent required under §10.
What you can be asked to cover under the paragraph above is separate from what AlphaNotix can be held liable for to you, which is capped in §19. Read the two together.
What survives. Losing or closing your account doesn’t switch off everything in these Terms. If your account is deleted, suspended, or terminated, these keep applying to anything that happened while you were using the Service: the license in §7 for content of yours that remains on AstralNotix, your responsibility for content you uploaded (§8), the finality of Bazaar purchases and Membership charges (§12 and §13), the enforcement consequences in §16, the disclaimers in §17, the indemnification in this section, the liability cap in §19, and the governing-law and dispute provisions in §20.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and AlphaNotix about your use of AstralNotix, and replace any earlier agreement on the same subject. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it. You can’t assign these Terms or your account to someone else without our consent; we can assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms are an agreement between you and AlphaNotix. They don’t create rights for anyone else, and someone who isn’t a party to them can’t enforce them. Playing in another user’s Campaign, buying from a Bazaar seller, or being affected by another user’s conduct doesn’t make you a party to that person’s agreement with us or give you a claim under it.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, where AlphaNotix is based. §20 sets this out in full, including how disputes are handled; where this summary and §20 differ, §20 controls.
Notices. Formal legal notice to AlphaNotix must be sent to admin@alphanotix.com. We may give you notice at the email address on your account, and a notice counts as given when we send it, so keeping that address current and able to receive our mail is your responsibility. This is separate from the everyday contact addresses in §22.
Events outside our control. AlphaNotix isn’t liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including infrastructure and network failures, outages at the providers named in §17, denial-of-service and other attacks, natural disasters, war, labor disruption, power failures, and acts of government. Where something like that interrupts AstralNotix, we’ll restore the Service as soon as we reasonably can.
19Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, AlphaNotix won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of AstralNotix, including lost profits, lost or corrupted data or content, loss of goodwill, and business interruption. That applies regardless of the legal theory a claim is brought under, whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, breach of warranty, or anything else, and it applies even if AlphaNotix has been advised of the possibility of such damages, or a limited remedy in these Terms is found to have failed its essential purpose.
One cap, across everything. AlphaNotix’s total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of AstralNotix will not exceed US $200. That cap applies in the aggregate to every claim you bring, not separately to each one. Multiple claims, or a series of related incidents, don’t multiply it.
Where the law doesn’t allow this. Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, including incidental and consequential damages. Where that’s the case for you, the exclusions and limits above apply to the fullest extent that law permits, and nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Your side of this. The limits above cover what AlphaNotix can owe you. §18 covers the reverse: when you’re responsible for covering costs AlphaNotix incurs because of your use of AstralNotix, the content you submit, or your breach of these Terms.
20Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Binding arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of AstralNotix will be resolved through binding arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Nevada unless you and AlphaNotix agree otherwise. Judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
No class actions. You and AlphaNotix agree that disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis, and not as a class action, collective action, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims or preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.
Small claims exception. Either party may instead bring an individual action in small claims court, provided the claim qualifies and stays in that court.
Opting out of arbitration. You can opt out within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing admin@alphanotix.com with your name, your account email address, and a clear statement that you’re opting out of arbitration. If you already had an account when this version took effect, the 30 days runs from that effective date. Opting out applies only to arbitration and the class-action waiver above; the rest of these Terms, including Nevada governing law, still applies, and opting out has no other effect on your account.
21Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as AstralNotix changes. Not every edit is the same size, so this section keeps the two kinds apart.
Material changes. A material change is one that meaningfully affects your rights or obligations under these Terms: a change to fees, billing, or what a purchase or Membership commits you to (§12, §13); to the license you grant us over your content (§7); to the content or acceptable-use rules you’re held to (§8, §15); to the disclaimers, indemnification, or liability cap (§17 to §19); or to governing law and how disputes are resolved (§20). If we make a material change, we’ll update the effective date above and notify current users a reasonable period before it takes effect.
Non-material changes. Clarifications, typo and grammar fixes, formatting and reordering, corrected cross-references, an updated contact address, and similar edits that don’t change what you’re agreeing to may be made without notice. We still update the effective date above when they happen.
How notice reaches you. Where notice is required, we give it by emailing the address on your account, by posting a notice on the Service, or both. A notice counts as delivered when we send the email or post it, whether or not you read it, so keeping the address on your account current and able to receive our mail is your responsibility. This works the same way as the notice provision in §18.
Continuing to use AstralNotix means you accept the update. Once a change takes effect, your use of the Service is your acceptance of these Terms as updated. If you do not accept the updated Terms, you must stop using AstralNotix, and you can delete your account at any time under §16. Stopping doesn’t unwind what already happened: the provisions §18 lists as surviving still apply to your use of the Service before that point.
Prior versions. AlphaNotix keeps earlier versions of these Terms and of the Privacy Policy, and will provide one on request to legal@alphanotix.com. Changes to the product itself are recorded publicly on AstralNotix’s own Forums, where the Updates board describes what shipped and the Maintenance board carries the per-release changelog.
Why these Terms get updated. AstralNotix is under active development, and these Terms are expected to change along with it. An update may be needed to cover a new or changed feature, a feature leaving preview (§6), the launch of real transactions on the Bazaar or paid Memberships (§12, §13), a change in the law or in what a regulator or payment processor requires of us, a change to the outside providers the Service runs on (§17), or plain clarification of something that turned out to be unclear. A feature released after the last update to these Terms is governed by them as updated, together with any additional rules posted for that feature under §15.
22Contact
AlphaNotix runs five addresses on alphanotix.com, so a message reaches whoever can actually deal with it instead of landing in one general pile. All five are monitored and answered by AlphaNotix; splitting them is about routing, not about handing your message to a third party.
| Address | What it’s for | Named in |
|---|---|---|
| support@ | Your account, billing, a Membership, a purchase, or how something works | §12, §13 |
| abuse@ | Reporting content or behavior that breaks these Terms | §8, §16 |
| security@ | Good-faith reports of a vulnerability or other security problem | §15 |
| legal@ | Questions about these Terms or the Privacy Policy, licensing and attribution, rights complaints, and requests for a prior version | §21, §22 |
| admin@ | Administration, plus formal legal notice and arbitration opt-outs | §18, §20 |
Questions about these Terms go to legal@alphanotix.com. If you aren’t sure which address fits, use support@alphanotix.com and we’ll route it.
Formal legal notice is the exception. Notice under §18, and an arbitration opt-out under §20, have to go to admin@alphanotix.com to count as served. Sending either to one of the other four doesn’t.
